Grey Area by Ali Hie

I am the grey matter
between the black and white
I am what makes it difficult
to tell the wrong from right
Fear not the dark of night
that leaves you feeling hollow
or the light of day
that will surely follow
Fear the words unspoken behind a broken look
Fear the path un-chosen
and the reasons for the one you took
I am the little things
that make the lies seem true enough,
I am also the blurred lines
that make the truth a little rough.
I am the argument
that never got resolved
I am all the reasons
that they never called
I am how you justify
the dirty things you do
I am how they justify
the dirt they do to you
I am the hurry
And I am the weight
I’m what makes it all add up
And, what makes it dissipate
I am but the answers
to the questions never asked
I am all the secrets
that have been tightly stashed
I am the grey matter
don’t you see I’m all around?
I am what made you feel so lost
and I am how you were found.
