The Gathering: My City

When I first moved to Brantford I was a young girl, living with my parents, and moving away from my small hometown felt like a betrayal. Fourteen years from then, this city has become my home, a place where I choose to be. And, the more I look around at my grown up life, the more I fall in love with it, and with my city.
We spent a lot of this weekend downtown, wandering around, seeing the sights and the shops. Friday evening, Logan Staats was to play in Harmony Square but was unfortunately unable to make it, so instead another band played, whose name I’m not certain. We sat and enjoyed some of the performance and watched as many members of the community gathered. Walking around downtown feels like walking around a cool small town. The old buildings and beautiful architecture make you feel reminiscent of a time you can’t possibly remember.
I’ve found that I have often wanted to speed up the timing of my life, even now, I’m already longing for Fall days. But we can’t. And, every now and then, we get these indescribable moments of clarity where we know that we’re in the right place at the right time. And, in those moments we can slow the train of thought of how much further we’d like to be in life, and enjoy, and trust, where we are.
