Reaching deep within
He pulled out his very core
Grabbing all his hands could hold
He threw it to the floor
The pain was still there
“It is not enough,” he cried
So reaching back deep within
He opened himself up wide
From the gapping hole
He pulled upright from the cage
He held on so naturally
As though turning a page
The muscles each detaching
With each ripping tear
He thought that this kind of pain
Just might make him care
With the ribs thrown to the floor
Still the feeling ached
He must get it all removed
Like that would erase the mistakes
Frantically he grabbed
At the wagging flesh around the hole
He peeled it like sun burnt skin
But was still left with his soul
